Launched late out of Nicks. Didnt bring any bait as i know the bait fish are off the hook right now out there. Made bait within 10 minutes with the sabiki and a 6 ft throw net. Got chovies, smelt, and some kind of perch.  Got a bunch of oversize and cut them up in the grab net.   Anyways no crabs , but one huge skate probably about 50 lbs +. It was a true monster from the deep!.  ugly bastardo!. haha..  no butts but fun nonetheless.

Thanks for the report. A guy at Outdoor Pro-Shop in RP told me that they are starting to pick up halibut just north of Hog Island.

There was a huge amount of pelicans etc diving and going crazy on some bait balls at the top of hog island.  Where do you like to throw crab nets there rockhopper?

THanks!

I've never been crabbing in Tomales, but I think most people throw their traps or rings up closer to the mouth of the bay, or just outside of the sandbar. That's shark city, though, so I don't know how comfortable I'd be paddling up there.
