Jenkinson Lake 1/12 & 13

I will be heading up Sat to do a little retreat with the wife. While the wife is running her legs off or spinning on the bike I will be trying to catch a fresh trout dinners or her. If you would like to join me feel free to show up. I will be launching near the dam area (free). Probably gonna put in later Sat morning and early Sunday.

Wouldn't mind having some company for the float.

It's gonna be a chilly paddle but I am soo looking forward to being on the water again. If anyone decides to show up I will be on ch 69. Hopefully have some fresh trout for dinner this weekend.

I'll be there tomorrow. Ch. 69, gonna be chilly, Sly Park and MET were really icy this morning so drive carefully.

I'll be there with Matt tomorrow, winter heat wave 34 and sunny,   

22 this morning and icy.  Marked fish by the island and 2nd dam, couple take downs but nothing stuck. Didn't see much at the back end of the lake.  Bring the hot coffee, down jacket, beanie and gloves.  Got our kayaks and lisence checked by DFG Game Warden  Wildlife Officer today too!

Yup, he asked if he could peak in the hatches, we said sure. He (David) said it was prime to catch people fishing with all the recent plants and new year (no lic.). The close inspection Suggested to us maybe that people keep more than the limit? He checked us on land, I never saw him until I hiked up the bank and got to my car. As soon as my key hit the door lock he popped out behind Matt's truck, binocs in hand so he was watching us. I offered him my license before he asked for it, aNd I don't think he even checked Matt's, he was a nice guy. Patrols south of 50.

Thanks for the report it's showing 18 degrees right now. Gonna be all bundled up.

What were you guys using?

Not worried about DFW im all legal. It doesn't pay to even think about messing around with that kinda stuff.

How many people were on the lake?
Good to see he looked in the hatches for over limits.
I hope if I get checked and my kayak is already loaded that they bring a ladder. No way am I loading and unloading a second time.

There was one other boat, 12 ft alum w three guys in it, Matt said they were way up past the second launch tucked up in there.

I made it out on the yak for a few on Saturday without any action. I marked a lot of fish around the island but couldn't get a strike.



Sunday we drove up to ice house and were able to get into the lake area. The lake was about 1/2 frozen over. Couldn't get to union valley from the east side but it looked pretty clear compared to ice house. after the drive went back to Jenkinson and threw some metal from the shore looking for a bite but again nothing. Wildlife warden was out and stopped me and asked for my lic. He said people had been catching them there but I wasn't one of them.

Monday while taking a nature walk with the wife ran across a local back near the second boat launch and he was telling me almost everyday around 4 the bite turns on in Jenkinson. Gonna have to give it another try.
