I hate to say it but desiring to be a law abiding citizen shouldn't be this hard.

Same goes for fishing regs.     :smt012

What good is a gun if you can't have it loaded.       The law abiding guys I'm not worried about,  it's those with criminal recotds that these rules should apply too.

Depending what county you are in, a concealed license is easy to get if you have a clean history.

Good luck getting one in the Bay Area.  It's not that easy, if even possible.  There are certain occupations that make it easier but for the common citizen with a perfect record you don't stand a chance.  If you live in a rural area your chances are higher for getting one.

(g) Licensed hunters or fishermen carrying pistols, revolvers, or
other firearms capable of being concealed upon the person while

Hi Jame, I was just reading the Hand Gun Safety Certificate Hand book on web,  http://oag.ca.gov/sites/all/files/pdfs/firearms/forms/hscsg.pdf? it doesn't have all the codes but its a good place to start.

Huh? What state are you posting from? It's not even the slightest bit easy to get a CC permit. In fact, unless you're an LEO or ex-LEO, it's damn near impossible.

Here's where I usually go when I need code info.  http://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/codes.xhtml

It can take a while to dig through everything, but its all there.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll just drag you down to their level, and beat you with experience.

CCW's are given by the sheriff. So depending on your county's sheriff it can be impossible. In Shasta County it's not hard at all. $300 for a private in home class. As long as your a decent citizen, not a criminal it's almost guaranteed you'll get one. Good in the entire state.

Here in Paso Robles there was a radio program, it is a call in program. Our state is working on changing the whole transporting of firearms thing. So I called and asked a couple questions. Because the bill isn't refined yet, the questions I asked. If I wanted to target shoot how do I transport my gun. She said I had to belong to a club. So I said I don't, but have a place to shoot. I didn't ask about the places that are publicly legal like our local forest. Then I asked about well if I was going hunting. I was told I was going to have to have the proper gun to hunt and the licence in possession to hunt. She is on the side of gun owners and wanted to make this public. I haven't heard any more on the subject since. This really sucks if it passes. The area I live in is conservative but getting more liberal every day. The more wineries we get the more liberal. Where I lived in Idaho if picking berries we had to pack, due to wolves now. And I hear a wolf has made it to the north eastern part of California. I hope this won't be an issue in the future. They can be more dangerous than a grizzly. I carry my firearm behind the drives seat out of reach. I don't have a lock box for a rifle. If I got a ticket It will be time to see how infringement of 2nd amendment. I have a question though. I see stripper clips are available for the 1903-A3 I'm building a restored 03-A3 to military specs. I have no idea how a stripper clip works. Can someone tell me.
If California get much worse I think I'll move to Idaho again. But I hate the snow. And like to be close to the ocean. I have the best of both worlds here as long as I'm not taxed out of the state.

I am in California, and there are plenty of counties that give out CCW's if you have a clean record.  Most of the counties are north of you, but there are plenty.
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

They are super easy to use. Most guns like the '03 have a slot toward the rear of the magazine that holds the clip and you just push down on the stack of rounds to load em in the mag. Kinda like an M1 Garand but the clip doesn't stay in the rifle. Fast compared to single loading but under stress it's not so easy.

As far as transport to my knowledge the gun must be in a locked case of some type and the ammunition must be in a separate location. For example gun is in the tool box of a truck and the ammo in in cab. If the gun is in the trunk of a car the ammo should be inside the car. If the gun is behind a seat in a truck the ammo must be out of the cab and technically the gun should be in a locked case everytime. With that said it depends on the LEO's opinion and I have never had an officer mention it. That is likely because during transport my guns and magazines are always unloaded and out of reach. Hunting regs are different completely but they only apply when you are actually in the field hunting.  Clear as mud I know but that's how this state likes to roll and it's only going to get worse. :smt012

This is the debate I am talking about. I have been also told that you can have the magazines loaded with ammo and in the same locked compartment (ie Trunk), but the loaded magazine must not be in the gun.

Still waiting for something in black and white that states to regs....

Yeah I'm thinking like so many other laws it depends on the officers interpretation and the law will be written vague on purpose. That was my sister and brother inlaw's interpretation and they are former Salinas PD. Then again SPD could care less about legally registered guns. Most here won't even site for concealed carry as long as you are the registered owner of the gun, have no hi cap mags and no criminal record.

Few officers I know could tell you what features make an "assault rifle" fall under the 2000 ban in CA simply because you have to be a gun enthusiast to know the details. Not many are gun enthusiasts so a little common sense is usually the best bet. They are worried about guns that are loaded or can be loaded quickly from inside the vehicle.
