American River Steelhead Drift 2013

SandBag and I will be doing a drift on opening day flows permitting. January 1 2013. Must have steelie card.

Planning on putting in at Sailor and getting out at Watt. Predicted flows are supposed to be around 5k.

Company always welcome. Been strong numbers of BIG fish caught already.

:/ my steelie card isn't here yet..of course my new steelie kayak hasn't been rigged for the river yet either..

Should be some good fishin, with the flows still a bit high, people will be hesitant to drift so it shouldn't get too crowded but I imagine certain parts of the shore will be lined. From what we have seen so far it should be a good return this season, I will be plunkin/floating roe and throwing spoons. Hope to see some guys show up, will be fun to finally be drifting the upper again no matter how the fishing is.

What time do you plan to leave Sailor and pull out at Watt?

Will you be stopping anywhere to fish or just floating the whole way?

I'll be doing all, floating, anchoring, and if I feel it's necessary stop at shore to cast. Haven't discussed the time but I hope to launch at first light so ~6:30

I'm down for a float.  Let me know what time when you make a final decision on time.

Drop off pick up plan?? Are we going to shuttle. How do you work that out? I might be able to join. Need more info though...

Ron I'm sure there will be sufficient vehicles to shuttle but just incase I volunteer to pick up you and the yak at take out or give a ride back up, I don't have racks though so yaks get stacked in the bed of my truck, I know some people don't agree with that so just lettin you know, Matt will you have the car or will you need a ride too?

630 is a pretty firm launch time for me, if not atleast there rigging up, 7 at the latest. Matt what are your plans?

I can shuttle my kayak and another. I'll put on my other carrier.

Cool we should have sufficient vehicles to get the job done, looks like im going to pick up matt around 530 and head to sailor so we'll be lookin for a ride back up 2 yaks 2 people, or just me back to my truck real quick.

Not looking good for me... family possibly coming into town... 

Possibly...see how I feel.
