Mike I'd just pick up jumbo minnows. nothing else is required to fish the port.

I havent fished there. But i think people say drifting blue gills is the best? Buy small hooks+worms for catching the blue gill. Then buy hooks for drifting the blue gill.

I fish there a lot. Swim baits, rapalas, top water, crappie jigs, bait bucket, stringer... Out.

it works if you can find blue gill.. i wasted 1 1/2 hours trying to catch bluegills at the freshkats tourney.  somedays they disappear.

Other option is some vertical jigs for the port strippers

I won the tourney on a carolina rig with 3ft 20lb florocarbon leader and a gamakatsu circle hook for minnow drifting... drop shot hooks and split shot to drop and drag a full night crawler threw the crappie... rapalas seem to work for racin rob sometimes. Most of the time the sure bet is bait at POS...
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

I would buy two 1-2 oz swimbait heads with white plastics, a duh spoon, rattletrap, and some dropshot plastics.  Then I would spend the $20+ left over on a boomerang snip tool and some senkos for Melones.. http://www.canalbaitandtackle.com/boomerang-snip-tool/

Jerkbait, crankbait, rattletrap, & some spoons (I love duh spoons too) but as others said minnows are the best.
I like to change the tail hook to dressed treble hook too.
