Is that the trolling model or the casting model?

Obviously my vote doesn't count as I only fish the salt once or twice a year, but if it's good enough for Craig, it's good enough for me!

Lamiglas Delta Striper Special with a abu 6500.  :smt006

I just picked up one off Amazon for $80 a couple days ago.  I have a few of the 5500's I use for trolling and really like the clickers on 'em, so I thought I'd give the big brother a try for a saltwater application.

I didn't know it, but these are used in Europe for distance casting competitions.  3, 4, 5 and 6 ounce tosses over 250 YARDS!!  wow!!  I'd be happy to cast around a few kelp paddies maybe 50 yards or so from the kayak...

Lamiglas Tfx 7030 C for the rod. My favorite rod ever.

Haven't found the ultimate reel yet, but the Abu Record 60 works for just about anything up here.

love my 6500...I have two. One on a lamiglass one on a trevala. I never feel outgunned with it on a yak. PB might be a different story

Thats the casting model. Totally different guides and action than the trolling model. Super sweet stick with a lighter tip but good backbone. Great for all around live bait fishing or lures for multiple species. I believe the same blank is also sold as the northwest salmon special.

I fish the 6500/ lamiglas delta striper rod combo for just about everything and haven't :smt006 been let down yet.  I haven't hooked into a big halibut or anything, but I will let you guys know once I do. I hope it holds up...

Trevala/Revo.  ;)

That would be my pick too. That combo can fish for most all species on the nor cal coast. Excepting sturgeon and WSB. Trevala 6-6 mh, Revo toro 60

+1

I agree, but would add that it can handle WSB and sturgeon, while running 40 lb PowerPro main, 30 lb leader for WSB and 80 lb leader for sturgeon, as one option.

What's the attraction to the Revo?  It is the low profile of it, the level wind, the weight?  All of the above?  I've never had one or considered one ... just can't bring myself to spend >$200 on a NorCal reel.

The Revo Toro has been the NCKA favorite since they were released. They do fish and cast well. They have some corrosion issues and aren't fun to work on. I sold mine recently and bought a Daiwa Lexa for less than $200. Will post a review next year.
