If you and six or seven buddies could fish anywhere, where would you fish?

Additional parameters:

1. w/in 8 hours driving distance or 3 hours flying
2. 4 days total (including travel) i.e., long weekend
3.  late April/early May

Originally was thinking Campbell River, Canada, but that looks like $700 airfare/person which is a lil pricey for just one long weekend.

Thanks for suggestions, or if you know a good outfitter that could help me spec a trip...

I remember seeing a show on this river, stuck in my head, I'll just throw it out there not really a recommendation.

It's right in the middle of Oregon, might be hard to get to in your time frame.

This trip has been on my list for a long time.  It's a great DIY float with tons of smallmouth through some very scenic country.

However, the is a short window of opportunity in the late spring to early summer when the flows are just right.

Here's a thread on NWKA that I started in 2007.  I didn't end up going, but others did.  Lots of info and details on this thread.

The best fishing trip i have done is at the Big K in Oregon fishing the Umpqua . Caught over 100 smallies a day is common. Food is great and lodging is decent.  http://www.big-k.com/
The guides were top notch also.

I've been along the John Day on a motorcycle camping / fishing trip. It's a beautiful river and beautiful scenery.  You do need a guide though, and you do need luck with the weather.  Even though it rained on us constantly, we still thought it was one of the best trips we ever took.  Only trouble we had was with bears.  They took our ice chest and then the rangers ran us out of there so the bears wouldn't come back.

If I were to do another such trip, like you are planning, I'd choose Montana or Wyoming and drive there.  Google Jackson Hole trout fishing and see what comes up.  They have an airport there.  The Grand Tetons are pretty cool.

+1 that's what we did for GS6 n booked for this year.  :party :party

Actually I'm planning a 4 Bday trip to drag some fwb down to La Fonda in March. Plan is to golf at Baja Mar, 6 pack trip and a guided kelpy yak trip (hopefully). We did this without the yaks a few years back it was awesome and super inexpensive. I partied with Kelly Slaters mom, she was part of a parrot head group, way to much mescal.
