So I bought a paddle jacket on ebay this morning. The brand is gul and all I can find online is the fact they are made in the uk .I know nothing about it besides it has rubber and neoprene seals.ANd from the pic its blue hell might even be for a woman...but it was only $11.51  :smt003
has anyone ever had any experiance or even heard of gul?and whats the difference between a mens or womans dry top?

Semi-dry top usually means rubber wrist gaskets and neoprene neck. You can put your arms in the water and stay dry, but if you go in over your head, you'll get wet from the loose neck and lack of a waist gasket. The material is fully waterproof.
You can get just as drunk on water
As you can get on dry land.

I have owned a Gull dry top for 5 years. The taped seams fall apart after washing a few times. Really a pretty sub-standard product. Foreign made, poor quality, questionable color and fit. What can I say, get a kokatat and get a well made product made in CA. But for $10, I guess why not. :smt005 :smt005 :smt005

If you've got a rubber gasket at the neck and a tunnel for fitting over a sprayskirt, it sounds like a dry top to me. I wear a semi-dry top when whitewater kayaking in the summer, and if I get hot I flip over, wait a few seconds, then roll back up and the water trickles down my neck to cool me off.

My semi-dry tops only have neoprene at the neck - no gaskets there. The advantage to wrist gaskets when on top of the water is that water doesn't trickle down the arm that's up when you're paddling if your hands/arms have been in the water, and they get in the water a lot when whitewater paddling.

it has what you need to be dry.....dont put it in the washing machine. matched with some waterproof pants and you'll be good until the seams fall apart.
