Hi guys. Monkeyface Kirk here. Just posted a video on monkeyfacenews that a few of you guys might find interesting... a ridiculous notochord removal primer.

www.monkeyfacenews.com

First sturgeon I've seen this winter. Caught by that irrepressible angler of the bay: Champion de la Banana.  Dude was fishing perch with grass shrimp, 10 pound test and a size six hook.  Hooked a 64 inch sturgeon.... and landed it.  I should know I have a three pound steak in my refrigerator.

Not a kayak thing, but relevant nonetheless.  Heading out to scout for herring tomorrow... will likely launch down south.  Nice tide.  Big rain.  And I've been marking huge schools all week.

Anyway check out the monkeyfacenews blog post.  I wouldn't mention it but I figure you guys would get a laugh.

Pisces-out.

Good thing they brought that giant tarp to clean their perch....J/K    :smt044
That was the best notocord removal video I've ever seen.
I never did it because of the laborious instructions I've seen in the past, but that guy made it look simple. Well, that and the fact that I've never kept a sturgeon either.
Great reading. Keep up the great work.

Norseman and myself took the notocord out a large sturgeon before the slot limits. The fish was 71 inches. We used the Cunang brothers tutorial. Now I prefer to just cut the meat out like doing an albacore or a WSB. Much, much easier.

Pretty funny though. I can just imagine the hollering and carrying on during that fight. Hey Kirk, is that at Alameda?
