Does anyone know where I can get a cap to cover the un-used speed/temp port on the back of my lowrance elite 5 DSI? Just want to keep water out of it since I'm not using it. Any solutions are much appreciated!

I wanted the same thing but couldn't wait because they were starting to corrode. I just put GOOP in them.

What If I sell it and get a new graph? Can the dielectric grease be removed?

If you leave it in there its not going to hurt anything. You should have dielectric grease on the connections anyway.

I think I have the Elite 4 so I'm not sure if it's the same size port as the 5 but I got a little grey cap at Home depot for mine that fits like a glove.

Ditto on the die-electric grease. Fill all connections with it. It wont hurt anything.

Fill with die-electric grease and then put a small chunk of duct seal putty over it. Works well. I also put a small amount in the sd card slot and then used gorilla tape to seal the rubber tab down at the bottom. I have killed 3 of them so far, but after making these adjustments no issues.

Where at home depot did you find it?

I posted on the hobie forum as well and someone told me autozone has rubber caps used for vacuum ports on engines that fit great.

Was it the Elite 4 that you have killed 3 of already?  I did some product testing on an Elite 4 over the weekend.  I could see a possability of leakage.  I submerged mine quite a few times to test it.  Even towed it behind the kayak a bit.  Couldn't get the SD slot to leak.

I have an Elite 5x Combo unit that's a year old.  Its been used a lot in saltwater.  After every trip I use a water spray bottle and mist it lightly to remove saltwater.  I then towel it dry and let dry completely over nite.
I put a drop of Corrosion X on all the pins, Die Electric grease works too.
All the pins look like brand new.  I've doing this on 4 FF units through the years and never once had any corrosion problems.
If you perform maintenance on your unit it will last years and years.
