I too have seen so much of this lately.  I usually take a hard stand because we give to so many charities monthly.  I finally had a young guy come up to me when I stopped for gas in Tehachapi Tuesday saying he was hungry and just needed a dollar or so so he could get some food.  He got fed, whereas when I run into the "could you spare some change" in your face guys and they get nadda.
That being said I am going to use Ron's wife's idea and baggie up some goodies to stow in my pickup, for those who will take them.

Though not particularly religious I donate money to religious groups as they tend to have more volunteers than paid staff.  More bang for the buck.

on a side not, my best friend from high school is a homeless drug addict.  For over 30 years, I and many others have tried to help him out, and it never works.  He is just too addicted to drugs.  Been in rehab 3 times at least.  Each buck he gets is just another nail in his coffin.

First off it isn't ours to say what they will do with the money. We give because it is by faith and what ever happens to it it is His will. God loves a "cheerful" giver and two it is a biblical principle.

For some reason unkown to me, I give and see a whole lot in return (and between my wife and I we give a lot to a lot of charities.) It never hurts our bottom line, but it is hard to manage seeing that my pot is always full even shelling out the giving. Heck I even tried to give a lot more and I still see I still have more than I have to pay out.

All my life even being paid a small salary I gave knowing someday that it will pay off. I have seen in my life that because of it I can now say I live fairy comfortably.

I also have learned to live within my means and try to keep myself debt free, but with  being in the NCKA and tricking out my ride that is where my expense occur. I guess it is madness! :smt003

I had a gentleman come up to me while I was pumping gas off of El Sobrante and ask if he could clean my windows to which he received an automatic and a polite "No, thank you."  He went around and asked a few more people only to get denied as well.

This man had to have been into his 60s maybe older, grayed hair, long beard, flanneled shirt tucked in, clean all the way around.  He stood by the pumps holding a squeegee, head down, humbly awaiting new customers to offer his services to.  I thought to myself, "This is somebody's grandpa and he's out here doing this?  This man ought to be enjoying his later years, not standing around a gas station trying to earn a couple dollars cleaning windows."

Needless to say I dug into my glovebox for what cash I could find and gave it to him.  Hard to give away money when you hardly have much of it yourself.  I hope that once I finish school I can earn enough or get into a position to help people like him.

Right in the feels, man.  Right in the feels...
