Sorry for the last minute post. We have had this planned for about a week but it never got posted up here.

Team member Adam Koons will be at the shop doing a short seminar on how to catch and land a sturgeon from a kayak. Clinic starts at 6:15 and should be around an hour long. Feel free to join us if you can. Please bring your own chair.

From the Headwaters Facebook Events page:
"Headwaters Team member Adam Koons will be giving a seminar on fishing for sturgeon from your kayak. This seminar will cover the basics of targeting sturgeon, handling big fish from your kayak, and regulations. Adam will bring his Cuda (sturgeon rigged) as an illustration. All are welcomed, but this clinic is geared for those who are comfortable fishing from their kayak, but have yet to handle fish in the 20-100+ lb range."

Big thanks to Adam for putting this together and making the long drive from Auburn.

Yeah, it's unfortunate but the traffic from the bay area towards Lodi on a week night is just a killer.

How are we supposed to land a sturgeon without a snare...from a kayak? Can we lasso the tail?

Damn sorry we missed you guys. Maybe we can start doing satellite clinics in the east bay for all our friends out there. Anyone have a big house stocked with beer?

Nope,

Adam and I were talking about ideas that would work within the new DFG regs, but no matter how you slice it a big sturgeon is going to be a bear to tackle without a snare or tail loop. I think it will defiantly be a two person job. But if I know anything about kayak anglers, we will adapt and overcome and have fun doing it. If anyone has any ideas on how to land one, I would be interested in starting a round table discussion on what you think may work.

Get it beside your yak upside down and shove game clip in. Easy. Well, it could be.

It would be easy for the AI guys!  All they would need to do is lower one of those gurney like things that marine biologists use to tag large fish.  Im sure AlsHobie could come up with some kind of winch system on his outriggers.
