I'm looking at what appears to be a hobie. No clue what model, just a single, with mirage drive. And apparently missing the rudder....
Anyways, it's on CL for $260 or so and a 2 hour drive for me. Any thoughts? I'm currently rocking a nice fat 14' single/tandem canoe/kayak hybrid that's like 75lbs....

Need year, make, model and condition to give you any real help.
Outback, revo, adventure?
FWIW a used mirage drive in decent condition can fetch more than $260.

Thinking SPAM myself....  This is a grea ttime of year to find a used kayak.  Might even be able to find a good used/demo yak from a dealer for around the same investment.

WAY to good to be true.

Couple of red flags for me....

1. If it doesn't have a drive its almost guaranteed stolen.
2. If it doesn't have a rudder I am guessing its not a mirage drive. He just saw "hobie" on the side and found a google image of "Hobie Kayak"
3. That is a stock pic so yeah its a beater or stolen
4. If its not HOT this is spam.
5. Meet in a public place and bring a friend if you go look

Looks like the phone# goes to the owner of a rental house @ Incline Village.  My guess is now that this was a "use with house rental" item so the peddal & rudder would have been beat to hell or broken off.  How would you treak a kayak that was part of your vacation rental?

I for sure wouldn't have it be a mirage drive hobie.....Can you say OK Scrambler!

The ad never said it was a Hobie even though the pic is that of a Hobie.
My guess is that he was using the photo for color reference and to give the buyer an idea of the kind of kayak he was selling, i.e. not a SINK or river kayak.
It may be a legit ad, but the description is really bad.
My first guess would be that it's an OK scrambler except the ad stated it has storage compartments so that pretty much rules that out. Costco Pelican??? Have him send you an email of the exact kayak. A pic is worth 1000 words.
More than likely it would only be worth a look if you happen to be up that way and there's a decent bar or restaurant right next to where you'll be launching to fish and that particular kayak is w/i a few blocks.

haha- all good thoughts guys. Email sent for a pic, and we'll see what happens. Probably a nil unless I happen to stop by on my way to Mendo or something.

So anyone got a hobie with a mirage drive for sale for $250?  :smt044

I called for some info and the guy said he already sold it. He said no mirage drive. Its been sittin outside forever. I asked couple years old? He said nooo way older. Might of been a good starter kayak. But nothing close to the picture. Think he had for reference of  color
