First time crabbing this past weekend.  Sat was flat and sunny.  A great day.  I only had 2 hours and caught 1 keeper, about 10 shorts.

Met DaGup/Bill.  I'm attaching a pic of him and his first-ever crab.

Sunday had bigger swells.  Still a beautiful, sunny day.  Caught 10+ shorts, no keepers.  Met Red Snapper/Vicky.  We were talking about crab bites and she mentioned that one had gotten her good earlier in the morning.  I was only half-paying attention until she showed it to me.  F*k.  Got a pic of that too.

About the crabs, there were lots of shorts to the left just outside the breakwater in the 30-40 ft area. I'm going to try again later in deeper water.

Good luck, everyone.

Thanks again to kayak james who hooked me up with a loaner pot and great hospitality back at base camp, letting me pig out on crab and the best smoked salmon ever. It was great to meet fishmonk and a handful of other great guys that really made my first crabbing day one of my best days out on the water ever. I look forward to more trips out with yakheads like myself. ...Peace.

Welcome aboard Bernard  :smt006  We did quite well at the beach to the left of the jaw in 30-40 fow last Saturday.  The area closer to the jetty usually yields smaller Dungies and lots of Rockies.

try rubbings its bellie next time.  It seems to work when I want them to let go of the trap, or anything else.
