Got to OP around 5:45 to a stiff wind.  I can't count how many times I have been turned away this year due to wind so I decided to go anyway.  Joel, Vince, VWtech and I launched into modertate winds around 7am.  It was Vinces first real fishing trip so a couple of knot pointers by mooch and he was on his way.  We fished in a stiff wind and drifted out to the grounds. Probably up to 2 miles at our longest.  On our way back the wind kicked up tremendously but what could have been hellish was not too bad.

Nothing for me.  I will let the rest tell their strories.

Bob and I got there at about 7:15AM, saw the wind, and pussed out. We were gonna rough it anyway, but the fact that Mike had 0 shiners was the icing on the cake. James offered us bait as we were leaving but we had already made up our minds to go to Black Point. Fished live bullheads and grasshrimp there for nada.

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...

You made a wise decision.  Although Vince, a Newbie hooked his first striper it was nothing to write home about. At least when you were done you had a shorter drive.

Tim showed up with his new Hobie adventure - while we were drifting, he actually hooked up briefly but never got to identify the bandit  :smt011

....as we made our way back, I see Vince's rod pumping....I yell "Vince - check your rod!" Sure enough, he had a striper on. Within a minute or so, he had his first kayak fish in his net  :smt026 Jason swings by to congratulate Vince on a job well done. It was Vince's second trip on his brand new P15 and his very first fish EVER  :smt038

Being that this was Vince's first fish...I had to take a number of photos so he can finally get a proper avatar :smt002

Note the white caps on the background  :smt011

We measured the fish - 26 inches and went over to the baitshop to have it weighed = 6.6 pounds on the scale!

Congratulations to Vince!!!  :smt023

Good job Vince!.  Great photos Joel, especially of those white caps.  Chuck one side note, Prowler vs. Hobie in a foot / paddle race.  Prowler won.  That was the only excitement we had until Vince caught his striper.
