My lady friend and i have sold our little fishing boat and have decided to buy a couple hobie pa 12's.seems like a nice little bay/shore fisher, ive used the marage drive and really like it. I have a bit of kayak experience down in the channel island area and also a bit of power boat bay fishing. This site seems like a great resorse. Mostly into going after some crab and and rock fish. Any advise would be great. Thanks!

Welcome, NicG and Lady!  Hope to see you around the local waterways.

For sure on safety! I do a bit of motor sport type stuff and i never skimp on the gear. Grew up in Rhode Island on the coast so im no stranger to the water.there will  be a learning curve as to spots and gear....im sure
We've got some time off this winter so i figure if we're  available we'll tag along on some local open invites.looking to pick up the boats next week sometime and spend some days outfitting them. Want to definitely set up for crab and rock fish. Any tips on gear would be great. Main things on my list are live box,h-bar,lowrance/GPS and a hand held marine radio and safety gear.the fishing gear I'll have to fill in with what i have and buy some additional things like crab block and pots.
On the fence about getting the 12 or 14, might do one of each........ill see what the girlfriend thinks.

Hi I've had the 14 and I have a 12 now.i really like the 12 over the 14 for one reasons, weight.if weight is not a factor to you then go with the 14.14 has more room alot more stable and tracks alot easier.the 12 is lighter and gets up to speed alot quicker.Im mostly by myself o I sold the 14 and got the 12.I can easily manhandle it onto my trailer.
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

No you just put in a tread in the hookups about the specifics of the trip.I sometimes just go and put a tread in like,is anyone fishing or crabbing this weekend in half moon bay.then if anyone is going and wants company thell post on the tread.there was a few time I just put is anyone fishing anywhere and got some response that way.I think there might be a bunch of guys going to doran beach to do some crabbing this weekend.

Nic:

Greg (Cajun) from pacific outfitters posts when and where he is going out on the board there. You can get all your gear there and you will be with good company.

Hi Greg and Greg's lady friend.  Hope to see you next season.  I will be in the dune colored hobie adventure.
