I'm still hunting for that turn-key underwater video camera solution.

I bought a Panasonic Lumix TS-4, took it into the ocean twice.  First time was ok, there was some water droplets inside the battery chamber, but no other issue.  This most recent trip is scary -- although no water got into battery chamber, camera stopped functioning.  Apparently there is some leak elsewhere.

Luckily, after letting it dry for a couple of days, the camera came back to life!!!!  But this is not a strictly on-land camera.

So, back to square 1.  What camera do you use under the sea?

I think most will chime in and say 'Go Pro'

I don't dive, but from what I see on the water, it 75% Go Pro easily.

GoPro with the dive housing. Regular housing will give you very blurry underwater footage.

Check out my YouTube channel (little youtube icon under my picture on the left hand side of screen) for a bunch of underwater video examples...

I use the liquid image HD wide angle dive mask.  It isn't as versatile a solution as a go pro,  but IMHO it is the best dive camera there is.  It is integrated into the dive mask so A) less gear to pack/deal with and B) is one less thing to get hung up on kelp.

IMO best video for ease of use would be the liquid image masks. I've used them a few times and it's great having everything integrated into one package, nothing sticking out etc. And plus, you video what you see pretty much.

That said, I like go-pros for the versatility and video quality. You do have to worry about what angle it's looking at if on your head, but once you get that dialed in, it's great. Also, I prefer using a nice soft mask that fits my face (liquid image ones don't work great on me for that...)

I recently got a Nikon AW-100 It can be submerged to 33ft and is shock and freeze resistant. Its cool for still photos but will only take 30 min vids. It works well and Im happy with it so far. :smt001 :smt006

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.
