Trees on my route are full of olives ready for picking.
Any of you guys ever attempted of making your own virgin olive oil.  I know it's probably more work than just buying a bottle from safeway but NCKA never takes the easy way :smt003
Just curious.

I'm sure there are small manuel presses-extractors on the market.  If I am remembering correctly a ton (2000 lbs) of olives will yield about 40 gallons of oil. You can mix the green and black olives when making oil, the more green the spicier stronger the oil will be.  All ripe black olives you should get a much milder buttery oil.  Good luck
