Picked up a set off these at Wally World for $29 bucks, pretty impressed, though I might add a little more marine sealant around the seals to handle excess splashing on the bow light.

Unless you really want to put the red and green lights on your kayak, they are not required. Only a bright flashlight. The r/g lights on a yak would be hard to decipher as to direction of travel by other vessels because of the slow movement too. I don't like to paddle in the dark with any lights on because it really takes away from your vision. When I hear a boat approaching I just turn on my hat/headlight so they can see me. Wave it around if you need too.

RacinRob - that's the very best advice I've seen on any kayaking forum regarding navigation lights on a kayak. Good night vision is the best way to stay aware of your surroundings. A drunk powerboater won't be watching for slow or non moving lights on his way back to port, but if you make a lot of noise and wave a flashlight in his face, he's going to see it and know that there's a human being in or near his path. Red/green lights need to be a distance apart and moving to be noticed. A slow or stopped white light does not suggest danger or human activity in any way. Never expect someone to notice you just because you have a light showing.
You can get just as drunk on water
As you can get on dry land.
