So I remember reading on here sometime last season about some of you that use pro cure scents when trout fishing.

Are you guys using it only when baitfishing or on your lures for trolling as well?  I know this stuff is pretty messy and wasn't sure if I wanted to go and slap this stuff on my lures and have to clean it up each time, so just curious what most people are doing.

I've done ok without any scent, but just thought it might be something new to try this year so I picked up a bottle of Pro-cure gel in trophy trout scent.  Any input is appreciated guys.

Procure gel trout/kokanee or shrimp/krill. Don't fish bait but if I did would use it also.

I put procure on everything I throw at a fish except for live sardines and I reapply every 30 minutes or so.

I use Kokanee Special or Steelhead Combo by Pro Cure. On everything I troll, dodger, lure, snaps etc...

I use the proCure anise scent. Mostly only to mask mine. Up in the rivers and creeks around Truckee I see the catch rates increase.

Interesting...I've only applied these gels to my soft plastics before, but never any hard lures.  So if I were to put in on my rapala J7, do you just rub it all over the lure or just on the hooks maybe?  What do you guys use to clean the lure afterwards or do you just store the lure separately where it won't make a mess of other lures?

I was looking at the anise/krill scent, but the trophy trout just sounded better so I ended up with that one...lol.  Oh well, lets hope it works as well as the other scents you guys mentioned.

I just put the gel on the body of the lure and give it a quick rub. That stuff is like glue so I leave it on and throw it in the divided Plano boxes when I'm done.

I put it on the back of the j7 so it doesnt change color patterns. I dont clean them either. Usually a pretty thin coat when they go back in the tackle box.

hahaha...clean your lure, that's a good one!

Yeah back in the box after I fail to catch anything with it. I see it as punishment for not doing its job!

haha...I guess no cleaning it is!  More of a relief for me since I'm lazy.  I just recall this gel being some messy stuff when I got it on my hands so I thought you guys might wipe it/rinse it off afterwards.

Last year you guys helped me catch my first kayak trout so lets see what the added scent will drag in this year.  Thanks for all tips fellas.

I use the gel when the bite is tough. Best way to clean it off is with warm water an a little dawn dish detergent .

Sent from my phone cause I can ;-)

Yeah I can be pretty anal about things like reel maintenance but I have never washed a lure except in saltwater where I rinse the hooks with freshwater. The scent doesnt "go bad" so why wash it off? Look at it as a primer for the next time you use it. Heck the stuff is expensive.  :smt005

I agree, let it bake in the sun then next time it will stick like a charm

I use "nightcrawler" gel for trout. I put it on everything, I even rub it on Nightcrawlers. Seriously.

I carry it but really haven't noticed much difference except when they have lockjaw.
It is considered bait by DFG so be careful in no Bait waters.
