Looking for someone who wants to do a trip down the Sacramento River.  Meet up at Garcia Bend, load kayaks and gear onto one vehicle, leaving one, and driving up to either Discovery Park or Broderick Boat launch (I have a pass so Discovery Park is free and Broderick is free).  Launch and basically jig our way down through downtown Sac and back to Garcia Bend.  Once at Garcia Bend can either call it a day, repeat the process, or do a drop off at Clarksburg and return to Garcia Bend.

I have never fished the area between I street and Freeport so it will be all new to me.  I figure on this exploratory trip that it will be primarily jigging and drifting along at current speed.  This will give a good indication on how long it will take and make it a good base line for other trips.  If it is taking way too long, can drop trolling gear and paddle with the current down stream.  Trolling and jigging has been more effective than sitting on anchor with kwikfish.

Very low key fishing, just need your kayak, pdf, jigging/bass pole (bait caster is easier as you will be trying to hug the bottom) a handful of Gibbs minnows (one or two ounces any color)(snags are going to be an issue), fish finder will be extremely helpful in gauging depths and seeing structure, water and snacks.  You probably need to be somewhat comfortable dealing with wake as the boat traffic will kick up some waves but very manageable (just roll your hips)(Recreational boat traffic has dropped off considerably).  This is no rush fishing just floating along and jigging.

Your vehicle needs to be able to cartop two kayaks as well.

I'm fairly flexible so time wise is open.  Tide does affect the drift a bit, but not a huge deal.

Let me know.

This sounds like an awesome trip, and there is no better person to fish with than Steve.

I'm game to do this in two weeks.

That sounds awesome, let me know when you figure out a date I'll be there. I don't have actual racks or yak Seats but have had 3 yaks in the bed and one on the stock Nissan rack on my truck without any damages so would be willing to transport from the end of the drift.

Sunday is the Folsom Fling and Monday I am going to be lobbing Gibbs Minnows at Mr. Matt down at Howe so tue-fri is open for me.  I would actually like to hit it multiple times and get a working system in place, unless it is too easy of a way to catch fish (doubting that).  So I would go every day that week.  Whenever people can go is fine with me as I am flexible for the next couple of weeks.

I am also going to be doing night jigging at the 28th street dredger holes with glow in the dark tubes as well as a evening Striper hunt with bluegills under the dock lights followed by some Salmon jigging at the gates over at the Port of Sac.  A few fun diversions that should be turning on soon.

Evening Striper hunt at the Port sounds awesome!
Id totally want to do the Sac River drift Steve. Been wanting to do that from Elkhorn Slough to Walnut Grove! Eventually I want to do the entire Sac River into the Bay. That would be an awesome trip.

Seeing reports from a fishing forum that jigging at Miller Park is HOT!
Fishing is cheaper than therapy!
