I can read all the specs. But is the Hero2 worth it. I don't think I will use some of the wiz bang accessories. I'd just like a hands free waterproof vid camera

GF loves her Hero 2, but from what I have read here and other places I don't think it would have made a difference

I have the first edition GoPro Hero 360 and it works fine.

I think there are features on even that one that I don't know how to use!

I think any GoPro will get the job done.

i dont think 20% off $299 for a HD2 is that great of a deal.  They've been on sale quite a bit, I got mine for $220.

You can't use all the features of the WIFI pack if you don't get the Hero 2.

I have both; but I prefer the regular HD over the HD2, it seems to have a longer battery life..... and the picture quality variance is extra nominal....

The Hero has been reliable, although I like the Hero2 because you don't have to memorize a list of abbreviations to know what you want to set on the screen.

I see some minor differences in the pic quality but not a major diff. As for the settings I really only see using a few. I am not one of those "have to tweak it every few minutes" the only feature other then vid I could see using is the time lapse feature. I assume the original HD can do that as well.

G, do you have issues with the battery running out before the memory card is full?

Depends on the size of your card, Eric. No problem on a 32GB at 1080p

with a 32g card and the battery backpack, i get about 5 1/2 hours of continuous video (but it's broken out into 5-6 separate files on the card; the card actually max's out before the battery dies.

Then I just use the Cinepro to cut what segments I want to use for the video.
