I will be there with team Montana! Only two days since the tumors have been taken out of my spine, and aside form that pain, I do not feel the "usual" pain. Gosh I cannot wait to get back in a kayak! Awesome time last year, sure to be great time and food again this year!

The opener is the first Saturday in November, but you can put your traps on Friday to let them soak overnight  :smt002 if you are trying to get rock crabs because their season is open year round.

I will be at Doran Beach site #73 arriving on Friday and leaving on Sunday.
Be careful with that. I know its a grey area because the jetty is there. You can leagely drop your traps for Dungies @ 12:01 am on Saturday Nov 3rd.

Will be there with the Boston Whaler to put pots out in our glory hole.  It's a little further out than I want to take the yak.  See you guys there!

this is a very fine line....

if you drop your pots on Friday, targeting rock crab and you don't pull it until the following day, any dungeness crab should be released.

And, F&G have have been known to put marked crab in traps set the day prior to the opener and bust fisherman as they came in.

You need to ask yourself is it really worth the risk....

Just got a few salmon heads and bellies for my pots. Kara is super excited for fresh crab. See you there.

Quick question, for going out at night, I know that an anchor light is required but does one need running lights?

Not sure but I got this from Wal Mart for about $20.  Battery operated and used double sticky tape to mount the front light, then I tapped out the roll pin holding the white light to the mast and put it on the top of my flag on the back.  Works GREAT!!

Looks like it would work well. Make sure that the green light is on the starboard (right) side, red on the port (left) as you look out towards the bow.

Just checked the California boating safety site, running lights are not required for kayaks. Minimum light required is a flashlight or a lantern unless you are anchored then you need a light that can be seen at two miles. Thanks.
