Saw some huge waves at Pigeon Point while fishing there this past Saturday. These 4 guys got thrown overboard by a 15 foot wave. The 2 people wearing PFDs swam to shore. 1 of the other 2 without PFDs drowned, and the 4th is still missing. :smt009

I just watched it now. It is imperative to wear our PDF all the time. Safety first. Feel so sorry about the two.

Peace be with them.

On 10/2/12, they found the body of the 2nd fishermen on the beach not too far from where the boat capsized.  Truly sad :smt010. One was 46 and the other was 63.. I guess they had the place marked in the past but did not realize waves are waiting for them.

When I fish along SMC,  I always spent a good 10-15 minutes observing the water movements before I unload my yak off the rooftop.  On 9/29/12, I noticed some waves were forming just north of the Pigeon Point Lighthouse about 1/2 mile out which I never seen that before, not to mention the tall waves were pounding on the shore from EKG and up north while we were on the water.  Same with HMB, especially the area between the harbor mouth and the north buoy, I dare not to venture out that direction before the sun rises, same deal.  Be careful guys.
