I spoke with the guy who sets the RF season dates--and it is 100% confirmed: opening day for Shelter Cove is May 15, 2013.

Thank you, Pat!  Go ahead with your vacation requests, hotel reservations, beer brewing...etc. - GS7 will be on May 18th, 2013.   :smt001

If you want more info on the tournament prior to me putting the master thread up please view previous years' threads.  I won't start the madness thread until very late this month or early January.   :smt006

Just got my suite at The Tides.  Julie Lane, who's been there for all the years of our parties there, has moved on, so be sure to get your reservations taken care of as The Tides always fills up, we have our major party/potluck there, it's a meeting place for NCKA for the weekend, great diving and one of the best beaches at the Cove are right there...etc.  So far these people are registered there:

- Whiting
- Johnson
- Johnson
- Kaai
- Anglin
- Stockwell

and there are no full suites left.  I think that means there are 4 rooms left...

Please tell me the name of the campground, do we make reservations or do a group site?
I wanted to go this year but had some work problems so I don't want to miss it next year.
also I have a 26' toy box trailer, is it too difficult of a drive? should I bring a tent or are there any motel/hotel close by that are not that expensive?
Your input is greatly appreciated.

The lowest price motel there is Mario's Marina Motel right next to the launch ramp (link provided below).  There's no need for reservation at the campground unless we can made some kinds of a group deal like last year.  BTW, I saw bigger/longer trailers there in the past so yours should be fine there.

Eric, does this mean that the GMS discount won't be available at the Tides this year?

Good question, Dustin.  They DID give me the Winter Special - 3 nights for the price of 2.  Be sure to ask for it!

The last stretch on Shelter Cove road is very steep and there are several hairpin turns. If you feel comfortable towing in that environment then I would strongly recommend that you take your time and make sure you arrive during daylight.

Antonio thanks for the advise, maybe I will try to get a room at that motel, I don't want anything fancy, just a place to sleep and have a hot shower.
pulling that trailer is going to take a lot of money for fuel it may be cheaper to rent a room.
