The only bad thing about tourney on opening day is if the weather is blown out then there is a chance of going home fishless since we can't catch them the prior days and most will be packing and leaving Sunday.

Then we don't have to clean any fish  :smt003

Good point. I've got vacation hours earned this year, so I'll be there for sure!

Thanks for the replies, Guys - I didn't want to put GS in the title and blow the thread out!   :smt005

I am very much in agreement with the sentiment  here of keeping it on the opener.

It IS a good point, Allan, and it's something that always looms large in potentially derailing our big day.  But it's worked out more often than not, and we always have contingency plans and places we can fish even if it's nasty offshore.

To cap this early GS newsthread, I got word today from Brandi that she's brokering a deal to get a big name in Gyotaku to the event!  I'm stoked on that and will do what I have to in order to get him there.  GS teaser over.   :smt001

I'd like it to be after the opener so we can prefish a couple days before. It's such a long drive and we'll probably stay 3-4 days

There are like 5 "opening days" now...seems like each region opens on a different day now. So the whole opening day excitement is a little stifled. But I'm also just tryin to consider the local factor & logistics.

My wife had just the opposite reaction
She was glad to have a room w/ view to her self and a good book without me bothering her.
What can I say .... life is good!!!
