Hey everyone my names Sophann and I just purchased my first fishing kayak and am loving it so far. Ive been mainly trout fishing, and took it out my first time to the AR this past weekend for salmon..no fish but still had a blast. Met a fellow yakker that told me about this website. Hopefully i can learn some tips from u guys about this new kayak world i just entered!

my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

You'll learn alot on this site and meet some great people.  Be safe and always leash that rod.

Paddle leash is Very necessary. Once you drop your paddle on a windy day while reeling in a big fish how are you gonna retrieve it when you drift away from it (unless you have a hobie). I prefer rod floats over leashes. Try to keep your leashes at a minimum.

I agree about the paddle leash being more important than the rod leash.  Help me out, Herb, what's a rod float & how can I get one?  I lost a rod/reel & leash just this week while switching pole positions, unleashed for less than 5 seconds.  Sounds like a rod float would have saved it.  Thanks
