Hello everyone! I'm Wil, a retired chef now living in Fort Bragg, CA and have been an ocean lover for years diving and fishing in Northern California and Oregon's coastal, inland and mountain waters for several decades. I also am an avid forager and shroomer and have led several outings harvesting wild edible and medicinal plants and fungi. I am looking forward to buying my first new kayak in the next couple of months and will be looking for suggestions and advice and instructions for rigging it up for fishing, crabbing and foraging and any advice on additional equipment I may need.
I also am hoping to hook up with other paddlers in the area for some good times in the water.

Look up DaveW on members pages. He lives in Ft. Bragg and is a real neat guy who knows the area very very well.

Welcome, Wil - I'm a bit north of you, but maybe we'll see each other out there on the water or in the woods some time.   :smt001

Dont be mislead. Everyone here is a great person. You are going to have alot of fun coming up. Get a kayak and see about getting on the ocean below Pt Arena for rockfish. Its the best time of the year right now.

Hi Will! I'm your neighbor in Willits. I can hit the freshwater with you most anytime.
Pacific Outfitters in Ukiah regularly has boat demos at Lk Mendo. It would be a great way to try before you buy.
I'm a beginner shroomer. I know my chantrelles and Lion's mane. I'd like to know more.
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

Welcome bro, I'm originally from willits and fort Bragg is my old stomping ground, your in a great spot. Get your yak and Noyo harbor will be your new best friend.  Don't over look it just because its in the middle of town. Get the yak and take it out a few times and figure out where you want to mount stuff. Take a sharpie and mark where you want to put things. Making holes in a new kayak is a very spiritual thing make sure you are sure before you poke holes.  Good luck and welcome to the madness.

Welcome!
I just went through Bragg a few weeks back. Dog run on the beach at Noyo, then dinner at Carine's. Love it up there.

Hey Will. Great group of guys on here. Get to a demo day at one of our members yak shops and ride, ride, ride, especially on the salt where it really matters. Rig tips are everywhere for almost every brand.
I'll be up in your neck of the woods around June, I'll look you up  :smt006. Good things and welcome! Mike
