Headed out from San Jose to Van Damme yesterday morning for a solo day trip. Left San Jose at 4:00AM and arrived at Van Damme at 8:00AM. Weather conditions were 47 degrees with dense fog. I took my time getting ready and entered the water at 8:45 AM.

A 5+ foot high tide was scheduled at 10:42 AM therefor the kelp was not much of a factor (thanks Tote).
The ocean was calm and the vis was about 10 ft but was impaired by tiny particles in the water. Not sure what it was????????? Saw lots of 7 inch abs and hundreds of small uni. None worth taking. I finally got my limit in 17 FOW with in a 15 foot radius of each other about 150 yards from shore.

I ended up with two 8" and one 8-1/2" abs. Got out of the water at 10:30AM and was back on the road by 11:30AM.

I pulled over just South of Albion to snap a pic of the ocean since I had forgot to before I left the beach. Arrived back home in San Jose at 4:00 PM.

As my buddy Island Yak would say " Dats a Power Dive Brudda!"  :smt003

Glad to see you got out and got some dinner. Nice looking Abs.

I love VD but haven't been there this year or last,  I think I made there about 25 years without missing one.  The place just keeps producing.

Thanks guys. Yeah my gills were drying out and I really needed to get wet. I was determined and a 8-1/2 hour solo round trip was not going to stop me.

As always Van Damme is still producing Dale.  :smt002

Nice job Antonio.
I'd rather dive in 17' with the kelp strung out than 12' with it packed together any day.

Yeah only problem was that I couldn't find my usual spots. Since I'm use to diving at low tide and all my markers were submerged at high tide  :smt044

Congrats bruda for a successful power dive. Wish I could have joined you but too busy working and chasing tuna. Glad you got some decent size snails.
