Hey everyone! I am going to buy a new rod. I was thinking about the trevala but it is 180$. I was wondering is the tiger lite jig similar to the trevala. For 1/3 of the price i think i rather save some money. If its a good rod.

I'd recommend the $119 Trevalas - solid rods for the price.  I've got the ML, M, and MH - use them for just about everything salty plus FW stripers, salmon and sturgeon.

The trevalas are stiff and fast tapered while the tiger lite is parabolic. I would go with a tiger lite after seeing them in action on good sized tuna. I want one for back up but I mostly fish irons. I'm sure if you post in the classifieds that you are looking for a trevala you'll get one half off or better.

the trevala is a little more heavyduty, geared towrads big game like tuna, sturgeon where the tiger lite jig is what its for jigging bottom fishing.the trevala f is more expensive than the v series.example a 66 casting rod mh tvc cost about 100. where in that same specs the tfc model will cost about 200.00,i have the tfc mh in casting i paid 160.00 for it for rockfisng and lite duty its not that comfortable the handle is big feels like a tennis racket.so i use my trevala s for jigging.but i just ordered a tiger lite jigging rod as a secondary for lite duty fishing.rockies,stripers.i bought the 63 heavy casting
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

It's a matter of personal preference but the Trevala L and ML are very nice light jigging rods.  I like the ML for jigs/irons up to 4 ozs.  Although a bit stiff for the application, I've also used both of those rods for pulling/trolling plugs for river salmon and landed fish.    If you're looking for a heavier rod the MH is a good all-around rod that can be used for lings, sturgeon, WSB, stripers, halibut, sharks, etc. and can handle heavier jigs/irons/weights if needed.

I have Trevalas also and you wont find a better jigging rod for me. I have the TVC-66H, the TVC-66M and the TVSC 63MH. The first two are usually 119.99 in most shops. You might find cheaper on Amazon. OPS Oakland is having a sale and they carry Trevalas. When jigging along the north coast you never know when that monster ling is going to grab you. You need some heft to get it off the bottom first. These are awesome kayak rods and mine have held up well for years. I use a Ugly Stick Tiger BWC 2202 7'0" in the bay for sturgeon and it works well. I also have used this same rod for over 10 years trolling for salmon dragging a 2lb ball.
You dont need the 180 buck Trevala. I know a lot of people who swear by them.

The Abu Revo Toros are a good match for the Trevala also the 50 or 60 will do you well. With the ML the Revo Inshore is a good match

I love my trevala rods! with a revo they are awesome.  I loke how light they are, yet stiff enough to get the big guys off the bottom in a hurry, especially with the Revo and the 25# max drag settings (though I usually use it at 15# and run 30-40# braid).

I cant speak for the Tiger light. I know ugly sticks though and they are my hands down favorite rods in the world  :smt007 As far as the trevala It hurt when I bought the 120$ dollar model, but the sensitivity is amazing and the hook sets are even better  :smt044 the 28# Hali on its maiden voyage made me a little bias tho. I have been a fan of ugly stick my whole life and they have never failed me.

I'd say if you Had the Money get the MH Trevala for the salt and you wont regret it.

Either way I wish You bendo's until your nervous of breaking your choice rod :smt003

Whichever one you get, invest $8 in a rodsox.  I now use them on all of my rods and since I began using them I have not broken a rod in transport, at home or had to deal with tangled lines and rods when transporting and storing either.  they are cheap and awesome protection for a serious investment!!  I even color code my rodsox for easy identification when heading out or gearing up once I have gotten to my destination  :)  (though I am kinda geeky that way I suppose...)

Had a Tiger light, and didn't like it, but love all of my Trevala's!  They are solid rods, and wont break on a snag, stand up to abuse, and I still consider them inexpensive but great bang for the buck.
