Lake Merced, SF

Hi Everyone,

I just got a new kayak, and I think I want to take it out for the first time in some nice controlled water conditions.  I live in SF, so I was thinking about Lake Merced.  Can anybody give me any advice about that lake?  Good launch sites, & if trout even exist in there anymore....?

trout is not biting there right now. Both lakes have docs for launch.
if you wan to try very light beach launch, you can travel to San Mateo and tried Fashion island beach.

Dang! Oh well....  That lake has/had so much potential to be a better fishery.  The golf courses are def draining fertilized water into it. Storm drain water drainage and dead bodies....  I prob will reconsider my ambitions for L.Merced. 

There is an easy launch at the north lake across from the vacated boat house.I paddle there all the time.I'm not sure about fishing.
