I saw it at $69 but didn't know they dropped it to $50.  Thanks!

Anyone have thoughts on this FF versus the Eagle 245DS?  The 245DS is dual beam (83/200) and 33% more resolution.... but for $100.

It is worth the difference?   Anyone used the 245DS yet?

Twice the power also is 800PP enough?
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

Well, personally I am on a budget, and don't need to be able to read the mfr. name off every tire at the bottom of the bay...

I just need to mark fish or bait at 120 feet bottom or less, usually top 70 feet.  But yeah, definitely the higher power, and screen res and wider beam, would be nice....

Dang, $50 sure is tempting tho!  I can use the difference to get a new 26x30 collapsible Promar landing net.

gah... decisions...

Thanks for the bargin tip... just ordered one myself.   I made the mistake of buying a pirahnamax 20 last year and it crapped out after a month in baja.   I agree, the Eagle 245DS is probably a much better fish finder, but I'm really just intrested in where the bottom is and the 168 will do just fine at that.  Besides, I really don't have enough WAF to spend more than $50 on a replacement fish finder.  Now if I can only find my battery pack...

Brian, I agree...  I just couldn't pass up the $50 deal!

At Tote's suggestion, I got a new rechargeable battery system here:
http://www.thomas-distributing.com/mh-gtcharger-special.php

Was about $60 after shipping, including (12) 2500 mAh NiMH AA batteries, AC charger, 12V DC car charger, travel case, tester, added 10-cell battery pack holder

Sean (scwafish) has a great article that will help w/assembly and other misc. parts needed....  Sure wish I were that mechanically inclined!

Good thing you got a great deal on the FF...  can put this to use for WAF on the battery pack!?

Thanks of the tip, but I actually have my old battery pack from my last fishfinder somewhere.  I think I'll actually gain WAF by putting it the battery pack to use instead of having it lying around unused.

. o O (....what was I thinking - of course you know how to make a battery pack...)

Yeah, I hear what you are saying now - the battery pack will work much better on your yak, than as an Industrial-influenced interior decorating piece...
