I hope you guys don't find this inappropriate, as I am just as bummed as anyone that's ops is closing. But Walton's Pond in San Leandro is an AOTY sponsor, his customer service is second to none and his selection of bass and trout gear is extensive. His salt water gear is minimal, but if your looking for fresh water stuff in the East Bay, I highly recommend Walton's Pond. I'm in no way affiliated with the shop, just a super happy customer. I drive 25min and pass two other tackle shops to go to him. Just throwing it out there.

I wonder if they have any Treval rods on sale. Man this is very sad news indeed, they had the best selection of salt gear in the area, I would say :/

Bummer.  I just recently started going there for gear, and the five or six times I've been in they impressed me with their knowledge, friendliness, and selection.

Just heard that they are out of 6.5" big hammers in the red colors.  Anyone know where they are sold around the bay area?

Still alot of good deals left at OPS!

Went there again yesterday, picked up 2 nice 4pc casting rods (normally $199ea) for $30ea.... Now I got me 2 nice travel size rods for my next trip... somewhere....

Also, if you're planning on mod'ing your kayak, they still got a some flush mounts and rod holders left; pick me up a couple of those too for my mini-X.

Fellas, go sooner than later cuz theyre getting low on stuff.  Picked up 4 rods and a shitton of line.  Sorry to see them go as theyre just 5 minutes from home and i enjoyed knot having to buy from bassprowhores and cabelas.  Outstanding customer service and crew.  Good to know it wasnt because of business but rather landlord-tenant bullcrap.  Really dug hanging out and wasting time n money shootin the shit with those guys.  Hopefully theyll be back soon.  Will be checkin out waltoms pond shell,...im one who digs supporting local business whenever possible.

Did you see if they had rope for the pots?  I need a full spool of leaded crab line.

I picked up a Shimano Curado reel yesterday and a few small items.  Service is so much better there than the "chain" stores.  I got the reel spooled up and all of my stuff in about 10 minutes.  I'm gonna miss that place!
