OPS Oakland Closing - everything 20% off till 10/15

Went by to pick up some line and found out they were closing. Really sad news.

Was there yesterday after work, saw Mel (FishingAddict) there; stocked up on koko/trout gear, including 2 more rods....

things are going FAST! so get there as soon as you can....

if you are planning to do any crabbing.. that still got a lot of gear on sale...

Lastly, don't bother pushing the 20%, they are not that really hard up on selling gear; wont the don't sell, they will just transfer up to NB. They are just trying to reduce the amount of stuff they will be transporting over....

The RP store will remain open. They were renting the Oakland location and the property got foreclosed.The business is OK is what I was told.

The building got foreclosed a while ago, the landlord and OPS have been sueing each other regarding the monthly rent. the have been looking for another location with freeway access, but no luck. For now, they will just operate out of the RP store and continue to look for space in the East Bay....

However, there two other major sponsors in the area Castro Valley Sportsman in Castro Valley and Waltons Pond. In San Leandro.

I was passing by the RP store on my home tonight and spotted Five NCKAers on their way home from an outing so i stopped in to say hello. I know the store well enough to work there.

OK I am not as bad as Glen, but will admit I am there almost every week and consider the guys who work there to be my friends. They have taken some heat on this site but I will miss them.

They are a loyal sponsor to another club I belong to and I have known most of them since they opened. It's on my way home from work and close to 2 other stores I frequent alot, so I stop by and kill time when the traffic is bad.... Very bad place to hang out, always end up spending money but stuff I already have; must have caught the Jedmo-bug: 2 of everything....

Kind of sucks for every one that relies on the Oakland OPS for gear. There is no better selection in the east bay. RP and SJ are a bit to far to go for tackle. I guess we will keep our fingers crossed for a new OPS location
