I have a new sail I just designed.    Roller furling mast...  sails upwind,, and no need for those leeboards !

You sure have the time to get into that. Still, KUVIA is the #1 on my list among all sails for kayak, worldwide.  :bounce:

Looks like you can only sail one direction. With the wind mostly. Be great if there was an offshore wind in the morning, and onshore in the afternoon.
actually... if you pull on the trim lines, one mast goes forward and the other goes back; which allows you to catch a port/starboard side wind....

Gonna test sail Mooches 4.3 with that sail soon; I post a vid of it afterwards....

not with this sail.... but if I put my 4.7 Waddel sail and rake the mast back, I can get the kayak on a plane :smt044

Roller furling !!!    this is an early prototype for the Raptor.   Cut up one of my windsurfiing sails,,,  " Frankensail"

Tested it out a few times already. it works great !   Should be available someday in the distant future...     All top secret of course   :smt003

Reminds me of Castaway with Tom Hanks.... :smt005 Problem with that is, you'd have all that fun running down hill, and no way other than paddling all the way back upwind...Limited application

Jim.... you're onto something good with that Raptor Sailing Rig.  Having the sail behind the cockpit and out of the way is pretty cool!

Anybody know a sail maker ?        This needs a few modifications to it.

Photo shows the jib set up with a roller furling mechanism  I fabricated out of ABS.
It doesn't quite look like it, but the luff edge is six feet.   I think 8 might be better, but with a shorter foot.

Hoping to have a video once I get the sails sewn.
