I decided to start this thread after reading fivers CL experience, and it's seems there are a lot of stories so lets hear them.I don't really have any the only CLing I did was trying to sell my race quad and I got all the scammers and spammers so I gave up and sold it on a local Facebook group.

My only bad experience was I told the seller that I'll buy the kayak and will pick it up on the way home in the evening and he said he'll hold it for me.   When I got there he said he sold it in the afternoon to another guy!  I reminded him what he said and he told me "it's mine and I can sell it to anyone I like".  I told him that he could've give me a call so I didn't have to drive all the way there but he just turned around and walked back into his house.

My recent experience was the worst one. I've used Craigslist since almost it's inception, and have a VERY good spider sense for scammers and tire kickers ( of course no one is perfect  :smt003).   I've bought and sold hundreds of items and dozens of cars, and it remains a great tool, although not as good as it once was.

I'd say the most annoying thing is when I post things for free, and request that it go to someone who needs the item.  More than once I'd be giving away a TV or microwave and the person would pull up, and I'd see them loading the TV into their car that is stuffed with other TVs and free stuff from CL that they then post later on.  Shame, people selling their souls for a quick buck.  I can't help but to pity them.

Freecycle is better, but the more enterprising scamming flippers have even infiltrated those groups.  Tight knit forums like these are great to weed those types out.

On the reverse side. I had an item for sale two ppl sent mail within two minutes. The first guy said I am on my way. I told the second guy that i had a seller on the way bit I would let Jim know if the deal falls through. The first guy came as promised. I sent the second guy mail saying it was sold and he replied....wow thank you so much for letting me know. It kinda felt like there are some good ppl out there

CL has really gotten to be a PITA to use even with a straight up car sale, too many BS responses to deal with.

When I don't want something anymore I usually just give it away unless it's worth a fair amount, but I never put anything on CL for free anymore, that really brings a strange group outta the woods.

I've had pretty good luck putting stuff on at a really low price, like $1, seems like some of the people I'm leary about only browse the free section and not the forsale section.

It is also cool to not take the money on a $20 item, especially if I think they really need it more than I do.

Haven't had any truthfully bad experiences but met some STRANGE people oner the years of selling stuff on there.  Did have one time I called a guy to buy a tool from him.  After a 45 min call it was all worked out, based on his schedule, for a time/place/price.  Called him right as I was leaving to meet him and he gave me the song and dance that he had other calls and it became a first come, first served at a higher price.  Didn't even bother going to look at it and try to be the first.  Got a call two days later asking me why nobody showed up to buy it.  It sat one there for months after that.  He burnt all his bridges with that sale!
