What would be the best 2 weeks in October to fish the Sonoma Coast, Ocean Cove to Fort Ross?  Are the lings coming closer to shore to spawn at that time of year?  Any and all opinions welcome.
Thanks :smt004

Any day in October when the swell is down and the wind is quiet would be a good time to fish the sonoma coast. There's always big lings lurking around.

Beginning of Oct the big females should be coming in close to spawn.

I get a little nerdy with data sometimes, so I'll chime in and say any day before Oct. 17th.  I tracked coastal weather for years and found that after 10 years of tracking it seemed the weather really turned (on average) after the 17th.

But that's just a chart,  the first part of the month ought to be more reliable weatherwise than the last half.

Thanks for passing along that weather expertise.  That sounds right on the weather around here.  This will be my first fall fishing the Sonoma coast.  I have 2 weeks vacation and wanted to make it count.  What are some good put-ins north of Stewart's Point preserve?  Anchor Bay?  Castor Cove?  Van Damme?
Thanks everyone for the feedback

I'm not familiar with Castor Cove but fishing (rockfish, cabs, and lings) is closed north of Pt Arena except for spearing and from shore.  I believe that closure goes up to just south of Cape Mendocino then above that it's open for awhile longer.  I love Van Damme but haven't made it up there in the last 2 years mostly due to the early closure in that section of the state.
