Hello All,
Been sifting through the site for a couple months now. Just sold my motorcycle, and the cash is going towards a kayak. An OK T13 is what I am leaning towards. I need to get out and demo. Are there any good shops to demo in the Sacramento area, or should I make a day of it in the bay?

I am a long time kayaker, sea and whitewater. It has been a long time since I have fished the salt (other than the occasional party boat). I plan on getting a guide (in Santa Cruz most likely) to teach me the ropes before I show you guys how clueless I am. I'm sure Ill see you on the water ASAP!

Thanks for all the great tips on the site.

Jonathan

Welcome! Like sonoramike said or Adventure sports in Sac( this is where I bought my first yak T13) call Dan at Headwater to see if he carry Ocean Kayak brands but if not He do have plenty of other brands. Dan can let you demo and his shop is close to the water. Good luck on yak shopping

Awesome. I'll definitely head down there on Saturday. I assume there will not be opportunity to try out boats during the swap... does the swap occur on the water?

Another question, does yak fishing in the salt die off in the winter, or are people going all year long?

Thanks!

Awesome! That would be great. That was the first kayak I looked into. I will PM you early this week. Friday after work would be perfect, and just in time for the swap on Saturday.

Thanks!

Talk to Allen Bushnell who goes by scallen. He lives in Santa Cruz and has several ocean kayaks that you can demo. (he is sponsored by Ocean Kayaks) By the way, he is also a kayak fishing guide. This guy knows his stuff and has been guiding for a long time  :smt045
