Every tourney I've participated had one or two PA and they have all been welcome. It is a great fishing platform IMHO.

I never heard anyone say that about the the PA. If that was the case then I would say every Hobie does not count.
A kayak is defined by the International Canoe Federation (the world sanctioning body) as a boat where the paddler faces forward, legs in front, using a double-bladed paddle.
Oh, I guess all the AOTY entries from peddle Hobie's don't count. It says nothing about leg propulsion. :-)

I believe a canoe uses a single bladed paddle by definition.
qoute from ravensblack(btw the pro angler is not a kayak).its funny on the hobie site the ai and pa is under the same categories but i dont ever recall anyone telling the ai guys that the ai is not a yak.as far as im concerned you dont like it to bad.if its not welcomed let me know you wont see it.my two.02,can of worms this tread  :smt005

Well if Hobie doesnt advertise it as a kayak....................... what is it then? You can quote me all you want. I allow the PA in my kayak fishing tournament. I dont allow the fully rigged AI with sail. So why dont you ask Hobie the question? Not us. Then the last PA video I saw had the paddle on board but it was a single blade paddle. Now what say? Is that the paddle provided by Hobie for the PA? The definition of kayak gets looser and looser every year.

Oh great. Now Im sure that someone will want to enter a skiff in the Albion Open now. hehehe :smt008

I do welcome them though. I dont care. They look fun and they look real good with a 31lb Chinook on the deck. I think that there were at least 3 at Albion.

My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

Thanks to all who replied.  I am happy to know that the PA will be able to participate in the NCKA activities regardless if it's status is classified a boat or kayak.  I really don't think, in my particular case any ways, that there's any threat of me winning any of the tourneys, I'm just glad to be able to participate and hang with you all.

I thought KAYAK stood for

Keep
Ass
Yielded (just)
Above
Keel

Anything that meets that definition should be a go right ?
