Whats up everyone?
I'm planning to hit Muir Beach on Saturday morning. I plan to troll for salmon until I don't feel like it anymore (or get my limit :)), then retreat inshore and toss swim baits for whatever's hungry...

Anyone interested?

Probably a wise idea. I hear there is a new push of salmon moving in.

Alex, Wes,
A bunch of NCKA AI brothers will be doing our first Hobie Island GG Regatta on September 8, 2012 at 7:30am. We will be sailing from Horseshoe Cove to Kirby Cove and fish for salmon and possibly RF prior to the beach party at 1:30pm.
So we will see ya there should you decide to go.
Details are in the Hobie Kayak section of our site.

Going Fishing?
Winds from the south, hook in
    the mouth.
Wind from the east, bite the least.
Wind from the north, further off.
Wind from the west, bite the
    best.

Thanks for the heads up, Danny.  I'm gonna stick with Muir this time. It's close, easy, and I'm out for revenge against something BIG that rocked me last time I was out there.   :smt010

Alex -

We should be up to Muir by 9AM. Will call you on 69. The swell is rotated west so Muir might be challenging. :smt010

3 ft WNW doesn't sound bad to me? I've launched out there with up to 5-6 ft WNW. Wet, but plenty doable.

They are trolling 2 miles south of muir. The wind probably won't be bad till 11.

We'll see. NOAA is saying 10-20 kts, but I'll probably just go for it. I don't mind the wind and chop all that much while I'm trolling, actually. It's just a pain trying to drift.

Question about "trooching"... Do you guys rig straight bait for this, or use an RSK or other bait holder? Not sure if a salmon would hit bait in an RSK if it weren't moving much...

Hmm... Now my only question is whether to pick up 'chovies or herring for the troll. I think I'll try chovies this time...

The NOAA point forecast is 5-10 kt. I have a tow rope if you want to take a nap or kick back and have a beer.  :smt003

I use a mooching rig with an 8-10 oz weight for trooching and a medium size herring.

I use a FBR with flasher for trolling.

5-10 kts sounds much better... I'm on my iPhone, and my fat fingers were struggling to click that map in the right spot....

It's ON for tomorrow morning! I plan to be at the gate at about 6:45. I REALLY hope the gate opens early. If not, I'll go ahead and rig up outside the gate and wait it out.

I'll be on CH 69. Holler if you are in the area!
