Great interview. In comments: Allen first guided my wife and I in 2006. His love and guidance are inspirational. I still use his techniques and still look forward to our fishing hook-ups. Proud to be a friend. Frank

I liked where this interview started.....you know the whole pope photo spread thing.....but without seriously delving into important issues like aviator sunglasses and mustache cultivation I feel the interview didn't quite reach the depths of which it had the potential to hit.  JMO  :smt003

Being a good husband and father tops the list, and learning to be a better fisherman is up near the top, too.

Proud to know you and call you a friend Allen.

See what you started scallen! :smt003 I first met Allen when the, mooch invited me to the 2005 Santa Cruz Kayak Connection fathers day derby and caught my first fish off a kayak and was hooked on the madness. Since I met scallen, I've been participating in almost every event he organize. Mainly, The Sand Crab Classic Tournament and The MBK Tournament.
Thank You Allen for taking the time to keep these tournaments going.

You Are The "MANN"

See what you started scallen! :smt003 I first met Allen when the, mooch invited me to the 2005 Santa Cruz Kayak Connection fathers day derby

Me too. Talked to him for about 45 minutes in the parking lot before the tournament.
I remember he asked, "Have you been on the ocean before?" Then he took one look at my kayak and said, "Nevermind, you know what you're doing."  :smt044
I also remember while OTW I raced to some diving birds and so did one other guy, Buschnell. By the time we got there it was over and I mentioned I forgot my Sabiki. He offered me one of his. Even though I declined, for me it was the beginning of witnessing how NCKA members conduct themselves. I didn't even know the guy and he was totally cool to me OTW.
I joined NCKA right after and have been hooked ever since.

Allen turned me on to yak fishing in 06 and I bought a yak the next week and have been loving yak fishing ever since.  Now my son Nathan is turned on to fishing and spearing off the yak.  You nailed it about the stoke and how most yak fisherfolks are some of the nicest people you will ever meet.  Thanks Allen
