Stampede 8/20

Took the yak on a trip to Yellowstone.  On way back stopped to look at Flaming Gorge in Wy.  Beautiful lake in the middle of sage brush desert.  Did not fish as the Kokes were being caught 60'deep.  Look a some nice ones some guys brought in.  24" or so.  Yellowstone lake has a limit of 8 lake trout, when it should be all you can catch.  They are netting 250,00# a year to try to remove them.  Did not get a chance to fish do to other happenings.  But a $10 boat tag and a$25 7 day fishing permit was a little sucky.  Did camp at Stampede one night and fished there.  Hooked 2 small planters, released to grow bigger.  Did luck out as had truck trouble after coming over Donner Pass.  Engine code and diesel went to limp mode.  Bad injector connector, after $600 tow and finally got home 2 days late.

Other than the trruck trouble, sounds like a GRE$AT trip! At least the truck waited til the end of the trip to give you trouble.

Would have liked to fish Flaming Gorge after seeing the size of the Kokes.  Had left the wife off in Bozeman to fly home to babysit the grand daughter in Long Beach she had committed to before deciding on trip.  Other couple came home early as he was sick and in pain. He is in John Muir for at least the next 10 days,  Guein barre syndrome.

The Green River right behind the dam has some increadable troutfishing too.

The Green River and Flaming Gorge are 30 minutes from my house. Next time send a pm. I have inside intel.......... 

Nice to see a Califbill report - get the camera fixed along with the truck!   

Camera was in the truck, and working.  Missed GS6 as went to Belize.  Nicer ocean to swim in.    Have not been out much.  Fell 16' off the roof 6/28 so awhile recovering. Wrist still hurt so the xrayed this morning.  Fracture they missed to the orthopedic guy tomorrow morning.
