I am not a PC guy that speaks well  of the deceased just because they are dead.  I figure an ahole in life is a dead ahole.  Bear that in mind.

My neighbor's 15 year old daughter Tianna Valdez recently died from a rare type of cancer.  My home office window faces the street and I hear all the kids when they assume no one is listening.  All the kids have their moments of selfishness, whining etc but Tianna never once in 12 years uttered a word in anger, frustration or resentment.  To the end she was the epitome of grace.  Once she knew the case was hopeless, she made everyone agree that they were to be happy.  We were told by her to attend several happy celebrations that were coming up in the next few weeks.  We were to wear bright blue at her funeral.

through her death she has taught so many what it means to be alive.  Each day is a precious gift not to be squandered or wasted in anger or full of hate.  Nathan has been training harder than ever knowing that all Tianna wanted was to train hard at volleyball.  I find myself thinking less about work and more about the beauty of each day.  thanks Tianna.  I have nowhere near the grace you did, but will strive to be half the person you are

Thanks for sharing Eugene...I will keep Tianna and her family in my thoughts and prayers, and on my mind while training as well.

Sincerely,

tragic loss, but an inspiring story. I can't even imagine having to live an entire life in such a short period, yet it seems she did.
Thank you for the perspective Tianna.

thanks Eugene.

Laugh, cry, smile through the tears and be happy at her funeral. It WILL mean the world to her.
Now I need a Kleenex. Smiling with her words in mind.

Eugene, your words and that article have me choked up.  I'll keep her thoughts and your words in mind when things aren't going so well at home or work.
