So Im looking to get a Daiwa Coastal Inshore And I have found one for a good price.. only catch is that it is missing the front plate looks like it snapped off. The reel has never been used my question is should I get it and get a replacement plate. My next questions is how do I get a front plate for one and is it expensive? Thanks for reading and your input!!

If I were you I'd bid on the daiwa advantage 153hsta these are the new ones with the red spool and save yourself the headache.in my opinion the daiwa coastal is not that great of a reel.unless it's the zillion coastal then it would worth buying and repairing.I had the coastal I sold it never used it.but im trying to picture the front plate.because the coastal breaks down to three main parts.the main body and the two side plates.call fishermans warehouse in sac to see if you can get a price qoute
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

well if the reel your looking at is the coastal 153 then the front plate looks easly replace.they call it the coastal cause it has crbb the long name is corrision ressistence ball bearings the advantage has regular bearings.but the advantage is supertuned so its alot smoother feel.ive taken alot of reels apart most of the time the bearings are fine.its the main drive gear and pinion that gets all corroded heres a diagram of my old advantage if the reel your talking about this should be the same.the front plate should be cheap,as far as availability thats a diffrent story.my rule with saltwater is now just my own opinion now if i pay around 100 bucks get two to three years out of it then i got my moneys worth.hope this helps
