I'm very close to the dark side. I have the funds now put away for a Revolution. My only concern at this point is the Revolution seems very thin skinned. I'm use to paddling the Necky kayaks. They are much thicker walled, really tough boats. I'm wondering how long we can expect the Revos to last.

Actually I'd say Hobies have one of the thinker hulls. No need to worry about wearing it out. I have yet to see one get oil canned....OK's on the other hand....

my other AI oil canned a bit after sitting on its bottom for 4 days at Albion..but its back in shape now after some warm temps sitting in the garage.

but yeah, hobie hulls are fairly thick, about as thick as any kayak that I can think of.

...I guess there's always a first for everything :smt002

IMO, If you store your kayak properly, there would be less problems with oil canning - especially with the longer heavier kayaks. I've seen kayaks oil can just sitting under the sun strapped on too tight on a wheeleez cart.

With a brand new yak you could always add some keel protection to keep it newer longer.
