I was trying to put 2 hooks on a 9 in scampi and I messed up and made a tear in it. I put some marine clear silicone on it but not sure if i was supposed to do that. Wondering what you use? And does it affect the presentation in the water when it is torn?

I tried microwaving some plastics once to repair some holes.

Not a good idea. Turned my swim baits into a puddle of turd looking plastic.

I've tried heating the tip of a screwdriver to weld ( solder ) it back together...    It ain't pretty , but holds real well.

Mend it superglue or any super glue works. Less glue works better.
What size jig head are you using?  The best way to add an additional hook is to attach a treble to the back of your jig hook via braid.  Bury one hook down so you have two hooks up on the treble. I could probably make some scampi heads with extra long hooks.

It's an 8 oz jighead. Trying to picture how the braided line would attach to tremble hook. Sounds better then putting more holes in the plastic.

Leader off a treble with braid. Tie it to the bend of your jig hook. Poke the treble hook into bait.

I use a lighter to mend them and I have noe cut the extra lead off the hook shank area and just add a drop or two of superglue to secure the plastic to the base of the lead head.

cheap torch lighter will melt it fast. Then just press the parts together and hold for a minute.
....the regular lighters are hard to lite in wind/on the water.

If its just the hook tearing a hole in the swimbait, keeping it from staying on the jig?  Back off the bait from the jig, turn it over and run the hook through the belly.  When that one tears, back it off and run the hook through the side of the swimbait.  Back in the game quicker without the need for extra tools.

If the tail is tearing, thats when I'd break out the lighter.  Or just get a new bait.
