I am headed to Eureka to beat the predicted 109 degree heat this week in Red Bluff.  I have been watching the ocean conditions and am hopeful the wind won't materialize.  I am hoping for a rematch on the bay halibut and Trinidad for salmon/rockfish (ocean willing).  I know most you are headed to Albion, but I hope to see some kayakers out there!

I am thinking bay on Wednesday late afternoon (depending when I get there), middle channel under the Samoa bridge
Thursday either Trinidad or the bay depending how the fishing in the bay is and wind conditions
Friday Trinidad for Salmon and Rockfish

I am hoping the wind and mixed swell is not too bad and I can make it out for Salmon!  Obviously conditions will dictate the plans.  I am almost tempted to try a Shelter Cove trip one day!  I am on my own hook, so am free to do what suits me  :smt003

Channel 69.  :smt006

Wish me luck,
Matt

I might be at Shelter Cove Saturday, can't make up my mind, do I want to go check out the Albion tournament or head to the cove. Lost a nice Thresher at the cove last Thursday, looked around 6 foot plus. Didn't bring the steel leader, teeth cut the line.

I made it.  It is sunny and 68 degrees, but the wind is whipping and there are some white caps and a lot of chop in the bay  :smt012  I talk to a guy who said the mornings have been flat, so I am hopeful to make it out tomorrow.  If the north wind is blowing I will likely fish Trinidad and tuck in behind the wash rocks.  If the bay is decent, I will be in the north channel bounce balling for butts.

I brought my laptop on this trip to give live updates. :smt003  I also put my new camera pole in to hopefully get some AbKing worthy video!

Thanks Eric, I see the small craft advisory just went into effect.  I brought my surf rod if I end up shore bound.  You guys be careful at Albion!
