I love the games and the competitors ..great job  first place and  last place ,, congratulations you made it and gave it your all...In my book when you get a chance at competing in the Olympics you are a winner ...
As far as NBC coverage and the moronic reporters asking stupid questions at inappropriate time I say "KISS MY BASS"..I hope in 2016 the rules change as far as media access(( I am noticing NBC has full access and no other country has morons with a mic , camera , bright light pool side and at the cool down pool))  ..I feel  NBC has made this more about NBC predictions and ratings not the glory of being an Olympic athlete(( I feel bad for the gymnast girl that NBC is crucifying for not being perfect )) ...I am remembering why I do not like or watch a lot of TV, only a media giant can mess up something as cool as the Olympics.
on a scale of 1 ~10 I am giving NBC a -11.

You people are always telling us how much you love Monty Python, Harry Potter and James Bond. We thought we'd give you it all at once.

Monty Ptython, meh
Harry Potter, meh... Tolkien YES!
Bond, Sean Connery

I liked some of the ceremony and fast forwarded parts.  Same as I did 4 years ago.

Nathan is a gymnast and has been to the Olympic Training Center (OTC) in Colorado to train in the past.  These guys live in virtual poverty, busting their asses in a gym that is so outdated your average 24 Hour Fitness center is better equipped.   If EVERYTHING  goes right, they get 5 minutes of fame every four years.  A big ol salute to the obscure athletes who will never make a dime from the sport even if they win.  Love of the game, nothing but love  :smt007

Wth with phelps losing 200 fly?  Cannot believe how bad he looked there in his signature event.  And tsk tsk to NBC resorting to interviews by Ryan Seacrest omg.

On the upside there is a lot of good non nbc content on the interwebs. Some really funny bits by my undergrad classmate and fellow Bruin Baron Davis.  Check him out on the NOC on youtube doing a bit as a Black english rockn roller commenting on the top 5 swimming moments of the olympics - i dare you not to LOL

*IMO: if they made the Olympics every 2 years instead of 4, maybe the world would be a better place.

Only part of the opening I thought was interesting, (cool) was how the Olympic rings were slowly flown into place.  The rings glowed as if they just emerged from a furnace!.  The rest?  Sick children, nurses & doctors, childhood demons?  Didn't do much for me.  I stopped watching shortly after that section.
Some serious manhours went into the lighting, and general setup of the coliseum,  I'm sure all that were present at the coliseum  fully appreciated the effort.

The sick kids etc and the industrial stuff made me think of Pink Floyd. So I grabbed some shrooms while I watched it.

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

Every 2 years would water it down WAY too much.

...to a spectator maybe but not for an Olympic hopeful or an Olympian that wants to redeem a disappointing showing. I'd hate to wait for 4 years for some payback.

Meh....instant gratification is cheap, enduring 4 years of torment then coming through in the clutch would be exponentially sweeter.

How bout Nathan Adrian in that 100 freestyle last night.....STUD!
