Hey everyone,
I'm starting to save my pennies for an Outback with Mirage Drive, and I've got a question about trolling.

I notice when I troll with the rod tip off one side of my yak, I get a VERY lopsided workout. What I'm wondering is whether the that's also the case with Mirage Drive, or whether the rudder alDlows you to pump evenly with your left and right legs, and go straight.

This isn't gonna be a deal breaker, but I'm still curious.

Trolling is one area where the Mirage Drive really shines.  The rudder will for sure counter any side drag and being hands free makes for a rather painless deployment of gear while underway.

Fantastic. That's just what I wanted to hear. I just got a solid raise, but it's still going to take me a while to save... My girlfriend has been wanting a yak for a while now, and I just couldn't justify saving money and buying another standard yak.  Instead I'm saving for an Outback (mostly for me  :smt003), and we can share that and my trusty old Scrambler XT. :)

Trolling with the drive is super easy. Just pick a spot well forward off the bow and use the  rudder to keep you straight.

Test drive the Revo before you buy an Outback.  I was lucky not smart, but now happy!

I have an outback and freaking love it.  To be honest, I was never much into trolling until I got my outback.  There is something about the connection you feel to the process... the wiggle of the rod, the rhythmic swoosh of water on the hull coinciding with the beat of the mirage drive.  It is just bad ass.  Upgrade to the turbo fins, and the sailing rudder... it will run you $130ish to do so, but sooooo worth it.  As far as the outback vs. revo discussion, that is for you to decide.  The Outback is more of a "barge" but with the turbo fins it moves along beautifully.  It has a very secure felling about it for sure.  It has tons of deck space for all your tackle boxes and what not, and really wide shoulders for mounting all sorts of goodies.  FF's, rod holders, downriggers... you did mention trolling right?
