Hey Folks,

Some of us will be heading to Fort Ross on June 3rd. Same day as the Spearfishing meet at Carmel River Beach. We will be meeting around 830-9am at the cove to unload and get in the water. I want to head north to a great spot I know of outside of the cove.

Should be a fun day up there.

Let me know if you need to borrow some dive gear and I'll bring it along.

where are you staying?  do you have a camp ground lined up?  who all's going?

so far it will be myself, fish"n"dive (alain) and our friend Ron. we don't camp though, we just go up early in the morning and stay for the day. we usually wrap up the diving around 2-3pm or earlier because of wind.

i have to get back home and feed my guinea pig because my wife is traveling.

im going to check weather before hand since if it looks nasty then it probably wont be worthwhile and Monterey would be a better bet. if swells are relatively small, 5 ft or just over it would be perfect.

let me know if you want to go up and maybe we'll see you there!

I'll pencil it in.
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early.

I'll consider bringing it, but only if the swells are coming in from the NW and are 3-5'.

cool folks, we'll be up there around 830-900 and unloading at the cove down the dirt road. maybe we can meet up and check out some nice spots north of the cove assuming weather and vis is decent as well as swells and wind. i'll let you know the day before if we are going for sure, so far swells look like 9'.

I'll keep an eye on things, but 9' combined seas doesn't sound promising - may have to fall back to bay halibut fishing.

Monterey bay looks relatively calm too, perhaps one of the more protected areas there would be good for diving.  I'd be thrilled to have better than 10' vis for once.

swells dropped quite a bit and it looks like 6 ' max swells close to shore areas. this is the prediction as of today through saturday. the lord works in mysterious ways. i think we'll be heading there since it looks like a good weekend and sure would be nice to take advantage of this change in swell.

hope you all can make it if you have the time!

Hi John and srm,

I will be joining you guys this saturday.  I plan to go up Friday morning, and get a campsite at Bodega Bay Doran Park for the weekend, so if anyone wants to share a campsite or carpool up, let me know.  I am willing to ride with someone and share the gas$.  Otherwise, I'll meet up with you at 830.  I captain a yellow Necky dolphin.

John, are you going to do some spearfishing as well?  What's legal right now?  I like to try spearfishing, if you have an extra speargun.

Henry

That's cool, John.  We can hookup on outings since we live so close to each other.  My wife is really looking forward to eating some of my abs specialties, so 2 or 3 10-inchers would be nice  :smt003 :cook

Thanks for letting me borrow your speargun  :smt038

BTW, cute guinea pig

yeah that guoinea pig of ours, we cant have a dog or cat where we live so we went to petco and got him. he is a couple of years old and kind of stopped growing now.

what color is your car? i'll keep an eye out for you and we'll go get some diving time in!

another guy from RWC is going to bring his mini zodiac for a test run. the rest of us will have kayaks.

i'll bring my jbl sawed off shotgun for you to use. it has been a good gun as long as i have had it. i'll show you how to load it up.

see ya saturday!
